. TROJANS RUGBY CLUB COACHING ETHOS
Trojans FC is an RFU affiliated club and as such, coaching staff will follow RFU coaching guidelines.
Coaches of senior, youth, junior and mini/midi players will follow the Trojans Rugby Code of Conduct based on the RFU’s Codes of Conduct
Coaches will strive to instill an understanding of the ethos of rugby; emphasising the showing of respect to officials and other players and that, despite rugby being a very physical game, violence is not acceptable.
The emphasis at all Youth levels will be on safety, fun and the development of skills in all players individually and as a team, not on match results.
Trojans FC seeks to play a “15-man” game and all players must be coached in the essential core skills of the game, e.g. ball handling, tackling, rucking, mauling, etc., dependant on age limitations.
In order to give young players an understanding of the game as a whole they must be allowed to experience as many of the elements and positions of the game as possible.
Coaches should keep their coaching skills up to date and follow current best practice.
