THE 2003/2004 SEASON
Playing
back in Hampshire 1, the First XV had much better results and ended up in
2nd place behind Guernsey. Two slips up against Heathens and New Milton,
both at home and both by two points, prevented them wining the league and
they were very disappointed to lose the league play-off to Old Reigatians
although it was accepted that the opposition were much the better side.
The 2nd and 3rd XVs both had good seasons and both ended up in a
respectable 5th place in their merit tables.
The
Women's XV excelled themselves in winning promotion to National 1, winning
the final of the National Challenge Shield South competition and only
losing the North v South final in the last ten minutes.
The
Academy entered the newly created Hampshire Colts League and struggled a
bit although the young team put in some brave performances.
All
three of these Sections had successful tours, the men to Prague, the Women
to the Flanders Open Tens Tournament in Belgium, and
the Academy also to Belgium.
