TROJANS QUALIFY FOR HARLEQUINS ETIHAD 2010/11 COMPETITION GRAND FINALS
Trojans tremendous U10 month continued last week-end.
Two weeks after winning the Winchester Festival U10 Cup, Trojans went up to Twickenham to compete in the Semi-final stage of the Harlequins Etihad Cup. In conditions at the Twickenham Stoop on Saturday described as “horrific” by Connor O Shea, Harlequins Director of Rugby in the Sunday Times , 20 U10 teams competed for the honour of competing in the U10 Grand Finals. Semi-finalists had already qualified earlier in the season from over 50 original entrants at U10.
Trojans U10’s repeating their cup run of last year, qualified to join the last 8 stage. In so doing they become the only Hampshire and surrounding area team due to participate in the Grand Final stage this season. The result means that Trojans U10’s are now invited to compete for the prestigious Etihad Cup in the Grand Finals at the Stoop on April 2. This takes place in the lead up to the potentially huge Harlequins vs Leicester, Premiership clash.
The U10 section were equally delighted to be in a position to field an entirely different squad the same week-end to compete in the Havant development tournament; although this was not a winning experience on this occasion, it bodes really well for the future.
