Message from Rudi Kochanowski
-
This weekend I am involved
with a Cycleathon at Twickenham with some of the guys I coach. We are
cycling for the duration of the London 7s from first whistle to final
whistle including through the night. We are doing this to raise money for
Naomi House and The Injured Players Foundation.

We are sorry to advise of
the unexpected death yesterday of John Croker.
John's initial involvement
in Trojans was with Minis and Juniors and he was Youth Chairman in 1982/83.
He was Colts Manager in 1983/84 and 1984/85, and formed a strong team with
John Goulden (who was subsequently Colts Manager); over quite a few years
they enthused their young charges, and developed a number of good sides, but
perhaps more importantly created a considerable number of really good loyal
long term club members many of whom progressed to the 1st XV, including a
number of Captains of Rugby. On leaving the training field, John went on to
referee. John was a good clubman and a great servant of the game; he will be
much missed.
The Funeral Service is to
be held at 12.15 pm on Thursday 4th April 2013
at Sacred Heart Church, 1 Albert Road, Bournemouth, BH1 1BZ (there is no
parking at the Church, but there are 2 public car parks nearby) |

Congratulations to the Under
14s who won the Under 14 Hampshire Cup yesterday in a tight match with
Gosport & Fareham. Unfortunately, the Under 13 final was cancelled due to
waterlogged pitches. |

Members will be saddened to
hear of the tragic death of Dr Paul Vickerman who was killed in a fire at
his home on the 21st February. Paul was 2nd team Captain from 1985 to 1987
and Chairman of Rugby from 1986 to 1989. Condolences are passed to his wife
Barbara and sons Martin and Peter (who played junior rugby at the Club).
A Service of Thanksgiving
will be held at Romsey Abbey on Friday March 22nd at 2.00pm. |

Following on from some
extensive trials since the start of the season we are pleased to announce
that Charlie Stonehill has been
selected for the England Under 16 squad for matches later in the year.
Charlie has played all his rugby at Trojans having started at under 11s
having never previously touched a rugby ball in anger. A robust second row /
No.8 Charlie will no doubt be soaring in the line outs for years to come and
we look forward to charting his onward progress. Congratulations
In addition, Charlie and his fellow team mate and
captain, Luke Frost, have been awarded a place at the London Irish academy.
This means they will be moving away to live and breath rugby for the next
two years, we wish them well. |

A big well done to the Under
13s and Under 14s who have both won their cup semi-finals and we wish them
luck in the finals both to be played at the Hampshire Collegiate School on
17th March. The pressure is now on the Under 16s to win their semi-final
against Jersey on 10th March to make it a clean sweep of finalists in all
the junior cups! |

Basingstoke 3 -24 and now face Havant in a two legged final during March. |

We are saddened to hear the
news that Mike O'Connell has lost his 10 year battle with cancer and died in
California where he has worked for the last 30 years. Mike was Captain of
Rugby in the 1973/73 season and was Rugby Treasurer from 1970 to 1979. Our
sympathies are extended to his family. |

Congratulations to Charlie Stonehill from the under 16s for making the
London and South East Under 16 squad and wishing him all the best for the
Divisional Festival this coming weekend which doubles up as the England
under 16 trials from which this year's England Squad will be selected. |

Help
wanted. The Colts are looking for someone to work mainly with the
second team on Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Preferably to have
coaching qualification already but not essential. Must have patience of a
saint to work with this age group and a sense of humour. The role is to
support the current coaching team so will be good opportunity to build up
some experience with the support of coaches that have been working with this
age group for some time already. |

A message from the Chairman -
"I am pleased to announce
that, after a period of discussion, the Executive Committee have now chosen
an applicant to fill the position of Head Coach.
The chap who's taken the
position is Dean Lewis, who was up until last week Basingstoke's backs and
defence coach. As of Monday he will be the Head Coach of Trojans Rugby Club
and will look to cover all aspects of senior coaching, whilst also looking
to develop up and coming coaches from the junior and mini side of Trojans
Rugby.
Dean is also a coach educator
and is currently the Community Rugby Coach for the New Forrest and the
I.O.W. He is on his final module of his level 3 Coaching Qualification. With
his experience and training I think we can look forward to some exciting
times at Trojans.

Stonehill from the Under 16s for making it to the final trials for London
and South East Group. Only 4 boys from Hampshire have been nominated and the
Club wishes them well in their trial this Sunday. |

TROJANS
SHOW THEIR STRENGTH IN JUNIOR RUGBY
Trojans are the only club in the County to have all four of their junior
sides (u13 to u16) still in the main Hampshire Cup competitions. The under
13s, 14s and 15s have all battled through to the semi finals of their
competition whilst the under 16s are at the quarter final stage. The Club
wishes them well in the new year and hopes for some additional silverware in
the Trophy cabinet. |

In case anyone hasn't heard yet we have plans
to replace the floodlights on the training pitch and to add them to the
second pitch. This is going to need a great deal of money and we will need
the support of all players and supporters. A number of fundraising schemes
are being planned so look out for these and be prepared to support. If
anyone has any great ideas or has just won the lottery please contact Shaun
Magill! |

the first Trojan girls to play for the County. They play their regular rugby
with Penguins/Solent Sirens, a "Cluster" side created to ensure games for
players whose clubs do not have enough players although they are registered
