Ben Smith

Sad news but a wonderful tribute.

It is with enormous sadness that we pass on the news that Ben Smith, a player with last season’s Trojans Rugby U16's , died suddenly and unexpectedly in May 2017. Ben was one of the longest serving players in the section having joined at the age of 5. He loved his rugby and had recently expressed a view that "rugby is my life". Ben was a highly respected member of the U16 section, a large and powerful forward, who displayed excellent leadership qualities. He was also a kind and thoughtful team player, always encouraging and supportive of his teammates, and always looking for the best in people. Ben was great company to be with and it was a huge privilege to have him as part of our Trojans Club . His tragic passing has deeply affected all those who were lucky enough to know him and he will be very greatly missed by all.

Ben loved to watch the Haka and so in tribute 50 players from the U16 and Colts section and performed a Haka at his Memorial service.

The thoughts of everyone at Trojans are with the family at this difficult time.
