The write-up of the Under 16s weekend.

Trojans U16 Warriors enjoy fine win over at Havant

With the added confidence of having seen their team mates, the U16 Chiefs win the County title the previous week , Trojans U16 Warriors took to the road seeking to boost their own chances of winning their divisional title by putting in a strong performance against mighty Havant U16 on the first team pitch over at Hooks lane.

In the game of the season for the U16 Trojans Warriors, Trojans Warriors defended resolutely in a tight game against larger, more direct opponents. However through excellent execution of the game plan, involving some superb kicking and clever use of our pace out wide, Trojans sneaked a deserved victory away against strong prior match favourites Havant. Trojans Warriors led expertly by Sacha Eves (captain) and Rob McFarlane (pack leader) showed oodles of team work and great character.

A most enjoyable game to watch, played in a fantastic spirit with the Havant guys (players , coaches and parents alike) with whom the friendly rivalry goes back many, many years.

Havant 20, Trojans 21

Scorers were:

Ben Phillips
Tyler Skellen
Billy Phillips

Conv - Clayton (3)

Man of the match (excellently deserved) was Clayton Parker

Trojans U16 Chiefs start season of UR7’s coaching with England 7’s Ace

Many of the Trojans Chiefs started the Spring season of UR7 sevens academy training today pm up the M3,at Basingstoke RFC where Christian Lewis Pratt (England 7’s fly half prior to Tom Mitchell) co-led the combined UR7 National Academy U16-U18 7’s training. The second training takes place next Sunday pm. Trojans (through the U16’s) with 10 involved in the academy have the highest representation in the UR7 academy of any club in the country. This Summer another of our players is travelling to Boston USA to play rugby with the UR7’s. Two had a great time over in the States last year.

A superb week-end for the U16’s.
