Wednesday 23rd August saw the start of this year’s Trojans Rugby Summer Camp.

38 boys and girls from the mini and junior sections of the club came and joined the coaches in 3 days of rugby fun and games, raising essential funds for the club and giving parents and carers a well-earned rest bite from the monotony of the school holidays. The weather was exceptionally kind and everyone enjoyed themselves.

Those from the mini section enjoyed games and activities such as Kabaddi, Capture the Flag, Rugby Netball, Robbing the Bank and Obstacle Courses (I think most would agree that Capture the Flag was this year’s stand out favourite.)

The junior section enjoyed games and activities like Kick Tennis, Touch Rugby, Rugby Golf and some skills related sessions. A real highlight was a tense kicking competition made more exciting with loud jeers and cheers from the mini section with inspired chants such as ‘you can’t kick under pressure!’ and ‘you’ll never be a back!’

All attendees were a huge credit to the club, their age group sections, coaches and parents alike with immaculate behaviour on display from all at all times. The core values of Rugby were adhered to with great examples of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship on show for all to see.

The three days culminated in the now infamous ‘water fight!’ Picture the scene. The sun was out, the juniors ready on their 22, the mini’s on the opposite 22 – all locked and loaded with a very impressive display of water pistols. On the whistle a call of charge followed by a cacophony of noise and splashes and the epic water fight had started – an hour and a half later there were some exhausted and very wet children ready to be picked up!

Huge thanks go to the volunteer coaches from mini, junior and senior sections as well as helpers from the Colts – without their help these events just do not happen. Also a massive thank you to Sandra Coffin for once again organising and putting on the event.

After three days together the bond is even stronger and we are even more #proudtobeatrojan
