Millbrook at home
A convincing win
Trojans ended up convincing winners against Millbrook although they had to defend some strong Millbrook attacks late in the second half.
Trojans made a strong start and on five minutes second row Alex Williams gained the ball just inside the Millbrook half and made an unstoppable charge all the way to the line with a long range conversion by Chris Boyd. Trojans kept Millbrook penned in their own half for a long period and gained two penalties by Matt Evenhand. Play continued in the same fashion with Trojans generally on top with some great interplay but with Millbrook defending well until, on the half hour, Williams crashed over for his second try, converted by Boyd. The half ended with Trojans 20 points to nil up.
Winger Jake Bailey scored the first of Trojans second half tries with the clock showing just 13 seconds, having collected the ball from a tap down from the Trojans high kick-off and running straight through to score. Boyd adding the points. On ten minutes, a Millbrook line-out on their own twenty two saw the ball go right to the back of the line where Williams gained possession and charged over the line for his third try and a Trojans bonus point. Trojans then seemed to take their foot off the pedal and Millbrook started to play some good attacking rugby and were rewarded on twenty minutes with a converted try after some good scrummaging. Trojans hit straight back, however, with Boyd charging over the line after winning the ball from the kick-off, Evenhand adding the points. Nevertheless, Millbrook didn’t give up and put a lot of pressure on the Trojans defence and a series of scrums in the Trojans twenty-two ended with Millbrook being awarded a penalty try.
