Another good win
A good day for running rugby saw another bonus point win for Trojans with seven tries scored by two wingers and the full back, including two hat-tricks, set up by some strong play from the forwards.
Trojans started well and in the first five minutes stole a Bognor scrum on the half-way line and strong back play saw winger Tom Stevenson dash in to the corner. Bognor then had a period of strong play and pressurised the Trojans line but only came away with a penalty. From the kick-off Trojans gained the ball and a sweeping backs move ended with Stevenson coming off his wing to score under the posts to give Chris Boyd an easy conversion. Bognor then, again, had a long period of strong play and kept the Trojans defence on their toes. But, on the half hour, Stevenson gained the ball on the half-way line and put in a run that scythed through the Bognor defence to gain his third try, converted by Boyd. From the kick-off, Trojans went immediately on to the attack and Charlie Pooley sprinted into the corner to give Trojans a 24 – 3 half-time lead.
Within the first few minutes of the second half second row Alex Williams made a charge from the half way line into the Bognor twenty-two where the ball was slipped to full-back Joby Kochanowki to run over to score with Stevenson this time adding the extra points. On ten minutes, Trojans were again on the attack and looked certain to score, but a dropped ball saw Bognor snatch the ball up and run the length of the pitch to score a converted try. This, together with changes through injury, unsettled Trojans and allowed Bognor to take some control of the game and some good play gained them a second try. This woke Trojans up and right from the kick-off the backs ran strongly and Kochanowski scored his second try with another Boyd conversion. And five minutes later the second hat-trick of the game was achieved by another Kochanowski break-through try and conversion by Boyd. Bognor, however, battled it out to the end and were rewarded with a forwards try right on time.
